1. It Starts with the Desk

Today, we spend more time sitting than sleeping. And while we all know the principles of correct posture at a PC, we rarely actually follow them. Ergonomic chairs are an excellent solution, providing proper support for the spine and overall body alignment while sitting. Together with a height-adjustable office desk, they form the foundation of a healthy work environment for sedentary jobs. Every employee deserves one.

2. How to Furnish the Office

White walls and a grey carpet? You might think you can't go wrong, but it’s dull and boring. An office is a space that calls for various combinations of materials and textures, playful elements, and color accents. But the old adage "everything in moderation" applies here too. If you aren't an expert in this field and don't know how to proceed, feel free to leave the office space design to us.

3. Create Chill-out Zones

An office consisting only of desks and chairs is long past its prime. More and more emphasis is placed today on creating a diverse environment that supports creativity and provides space for, say, small talk with colleagues or a moment of rest with a magazine in hand. Creating these zones promotes a sense of comfort and overall employee satisfaction. To start, you don't need much. Complement designer armchairs, sofas, or bean bags with a coffee table and a shelving unit to visually divide the space. Add plants, books, or decorations, and your chill-out corner is born.

4. Building Community

Happy employees are those who experience a sense of belonging, sharing, and connection at work. In such a community, it’s about more than just completing tasks between nine and five. Therefore, it is good to support employee socialization through various activities. The possibilities are endless: have a team volunteering day, launch a cycle-to-work challenge, or look after a community garden together.

5. Get Them Involved

The best feedback comes directly from those it affects. Ask employees for their opinions and find out what they are satisfied with and what they are not. Give them space for their suggestions and ideas, for bringing their own concepts to the table, and voting on which ones to implement. Executing these team ideas can also be a great way to strengthen the community and boost overall satisfaction.

6. Office vs. Home Office

Part of the team is in the office and the rest work from home - this hybrid work model is becoming the new standard. The Covid-19 pandemic played a major role in this, showing us that (almost) anything is possible if we want it to be. Although this article is about how to draw people back to the office, it is important to allow them a certain degree of freedom, support all employees equally, and create equitable working conditions. That way, after a day spent at a home office, they will look forward to the office just a little bit more.
